Rebecca Iddon

I am a self-driven and professional education specialist who confidently manages projects, and embraces opportunities presented by working with varied and diverse businesses. I am also a strong, and supportive manager, who leads by example in driving high standards.  My background before moving into the education sector full time was in hotel management, and the roles I have held have been senior and strategically focused.

I enjoy meeting people and developing excellent professional relationships. I have excellent communication skills, and enjoy supporting the companies and individuals I work with to challenge the norm and explore new opportunities.  I have a passion for staff development and training, and with my management experience this is an area in which I successfully thrive.  I also excel at developing training programmes and curriculums which meet the needs of the business; not only in subject matter but also in methods of delivery, enabling learners to succeed and provide return on investment for their business.

I started training to be a counsellor after completing a short 6 week course, which I hoped would improve my communication skills when managing a large and very diverse team, but I was completely hooked afterwards, and found learning more about why people do the things they do fascinating. I have completed studies over the last 6 years, while also working full time. I volunteer once a week for the Samaritans which is challenging as well as being hugely rewarding. My whole career has focussed on developing people, I am now expanding this skill set, and helping and supporting people in a new way.

I am a highly experienced and motivated workplace education specialist, with significant and successful operations & project management experience across occupations as diverse as magazine publishing, construction, and workplace education.  I have held managerial positions in these sectors, with extensive and broad experience including project management; quality compliance; data management and reporting to stakeholders; learning & development; curriculum and course development; marketing; and people and performance management.

I have not been afraid to shift and change careers and recently this seems to have happened again.  Partly due to a change in location and partly due to trying to reduce my impact on the environment, I am now ‘going local’ offering handyman services and yoga tuition to my local community.  I have to say that I am loving it.  Getting to know local people, using my practical skills to help people with DIY support, and helping people improve their physical and mental well-being through yoga and mindfulness, is so rewarding.  I am also actively involved with local groups, volunteering for the Offord Gardeners’ Association and Village Hall committee, two local groups committed to providing education and social opportunities to local people.

I am also continuing to use my education skills, helping small training providers and old friends by updating and implementing quality assurance procedures, observing and developing delivery staff, and working with awarding organisation to ensure the smooth running of training programmes.  To say my career is varied would be an understatement.  And I am looking forward to seeing what the next 5 years of working life will bring 😊”
